About the Event
Join the Day Trippers for a 1-hour guided tour of the USS Orleck. The Gearing-Class Destroyer was built in 1945 and operated in the Navy’s 7th Fleet during the Korean War. Renovated in 1962, the 390-foot warship once known as the "Grey Ghost" went to sea during the Vietnam War, earning 14 Battle Stars on top of four awarded it during the Korean conflict. It It is now moored in the St. Johns River as part of the Jacksonville Naval Museum. After our tour, we will have lunch on the deck, catered by Biscotti's. Cost for the tour and lunch is $33.00 (plus a nominal service fee). Important Note: Tour includes steep ladder-style steps with handrails. Details about car pooling, directions and parking will be provided closer to the day. Registration closes on Tuesday, October 17th.
