About the Event
Join the Day Trippers for a 1-hour tour of the Lightner Museum, an iconic building at the heart of historic St. Augustine with an extraordinary museum collection. Occupying the former Hotel Alcazar, a Gilded Age resort hotel commissioned by railroad magnate Henry Flagler, the Lightner Museum offers an immersive experience of art, architecture, history, and design. We’ll carpool from Sawgrass in time for the 10:30 am guided tour. The tour cost is $12 (plus a nominal fee) and includes admission to the museum for the day. You may want to get there early or allow time in the afternoon to visit the special exhibit “Handstitched Worlds: The Cartography of Quilts”—18 quilts from the American Folk Art Museum in New York. We’ll lunch at noon at the Columbia Restaurant (separate checks on the day). Open to SWC Members only. Group size is limited to 20 people. Registration closes on January 3. If you have questions, contact Barbara Maletz, barbara.maletz@gmail.com or 551-580-0039 (voice or text).
