What to do with an old strip-mining site turned illegal dump? Why.... establish an arboretum, of course!  Join us to hear how a group of volunteers gathered in 2004 to accomplish the improbable and create a community gem!  Called “the hidden jewel” in Northeast Florida, the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens opened in November 2008 – covering 120 acres, offering 7 natural trails through 13 distinct ecosystems.  Jacksonville Arboretum’s Executive Director, Dana Doody, will also fill us in on the group’s Master Development plan, including an interactive Children’s Garden.  To extend the camaraderie, why not arrange to go out to lunch with friends after the meeting? This event is for members only and is limited to 120 members.  Reservations are required so that we can prepare seating.  Registration closes on February 9th.
